The Institute of Functional and Environmental Materials at Lanzhou University School of Physics Science and Technology was founded in 2004. There are 14 faculty and staff including one professor, five associate professor, one doctoral student supervisor. One of them won National Outstanding Young Scientist Award, eleven possess PhD degree. The institute focuses efforts on research in correlative fields such as Vacuum Ultraviolet Phosphors (VUV Phosphors); Long Lasting Phosphors; Lighting Emitting Diode Phosphors (LED Phosphors); Up-conversion luminescence materials; Photocatalysis Materials; Graphene; Preparation and Characterization of novel functional materials or environmentally friendly materials in extreme condition.
